Affiliate Programs / Adsense

Once you have a web site that is generating traffic, why not sell advertising space on it to make money online? Zingtech.com began with its first affiliate program in the late 1990's. Unfortunately funding disappeared until recently, when Google introduced Adsense and Adwords

Making Money on the Internet

To make money online your web site must first and foremost be useful to the reader. Create a web site about a topic you enjoy. This web site began with the goal of helping others learn from our technical experiences.

Once traffic is pouring into your site, you should decide how to serve ads. One way that is not recommended is to handle all the billing yourself, keeping track of ads and click throughs. The more desirable approach is to use Google's Adsense Affiliate Program, which effectively eliminates most of the overhead and is extremely easy to set up. One key disadvantage of Google Adsense is that Google will take a portion of your income, so if your site has high traffic, you may be best to serve ads yourself.

Setting up Google AdSense

To begin, sign up with Adsense.

Next, login to the system. Use the top tab labeled "AdSense for Content" to pick an ad layout to place on your web site. You may specify the ad layout (size / shape), type (text / images), color palette, and channel. At the bottom of the screen will be displayed the AdSense code to copy-and-paste into your HTML editor.

After your the ad has been added, you may check its performance by clicking the "Reports" tab. This page will display daily earnings, weekly earnings, monthly earnings, or other reports.

To determine which ads are most successful, AdSense supports setting up channels. A channel can be associated with a single ad unit or a single web page, allowing you to associate affiliate program click-throughs with a specific ad. Channels are set up under the "Advanced Reports - Ad Performance" area of the "Reports" tab. Showing the "Channel Data" allows you to create additional channels that target a specific URL on your web site.

Once your earnings surpass $100, you will be mailed a check the following month.

AdSense Keywords

Unfortunately Google's AdSense Program Policy prohibits disclosure of any financial aspect of the program including price-per-click, best AdSense keywords, or earnings received from Google.
